Ayurveda - The Science of Life
Ayurveda is the Asian Medical System, which has its beginnings in the fifth century BC, and thrives even to the present day in many parts of India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Burma and Tibet.  It is one of the oldest systems of health care, which is in continuous practice in the world today.

The word Ayurveda comes from two Sanskrit words, Ayus meaning life or longevity, and Veda meaning knowledge or science. Therefore, Ayurveda is the Science of Life, which specially refers to establishing a healthy integration of the body, mind, spirit and environment. Ayurveda’s main emphasis is on health promotion and illness prevention, but it also teaches us how to correct our physiology when we are ill.

Ayurveda, has its roots in the same traditions of India from which yoga, meditation, therapeutic massage, nutritional practices, marma therapy, herbalism, aromatherapy and other health care practices have developed.  All of these traditions evolved out of the Vedas, which dates back to many thousands of years ago in India and Sri Lanka, the exact origins of which are shrouded in the mist of history.
